Prochymal for Treatment of Crohn's Disease

Prochymal is currently in clinical trials for the treatment of moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease is a life-long, chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines, often leading to abdominal pain, disability, and surgical removal of the affected portion of the bowel in more than half of patients with the disease. Crohn's disease affects over 500,000 patients in the U.S., with more than 20,000 new cases diagnosed each year.

Prochymal for Crohn's Disease - Clinical Status

Osiris is currently conducting a multi-center Phase III human clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Prochymal for moderate to severe Crohn’s disease that is resistant to current therapies.  The clinical trial is a double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted at multiple sites with a total enrollment of 210 patients. Patients were randomized to either Prochymal (low or high dose) or placebo.  This trial is no longer enrolling patients.
